Yreka, CA — Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries will honor successful community integration for adults with barriers to employment at a Goodwill Story Behind the Store Celebration awards event in Yreka on Thursday, March 30.
Goodwill will recognize Corey Crandal for thriving as a kitchen aide at Brookdale-Yreka senior living. He is the Story of the Year for Goodwill in Siskiyou County. In addition, Goodwill will honor Executive Director Monique Dixon and her team at Brookdale-Yreka as the 2016 Community Partner of the Year for their important support of Crandal’s employment — his first community job.
The Goodwill Story Behind the Store Celebration for Siskiyou County will be Thursday, March 30, at the Best Western Miner’s Inn. It is one of five similar events to be held between March and July in Goodwill’s Southern Oregon region that covers Siskiyou, Jackson, Josephine, Douglas, Klamath and Lake counties.
The dinner events are made possible thanks to corporate sponsorship of local companies such as Brookdale-Yreka and Siskiyou Central Credit Union and regionally by Propel Insurance.
The Goodwill Story Behind the Store celebrations will honor Goodwill program participants who overcame odds and found their full potential through work, community support, or education in 2016. Each event will celebrate a local Story (client or employer), a community partner, and most will also have a Goodwill employee of the year. The events will also commemorate Goodwill’s 50th anniversary of service to communities of Southern Oregon and Northern California. Southern Oregon Goodwill was founded in 1967 in Grants Pass.
