Southern Oregon Goodwill opened a new store in Roseburg on April 21, and local radio and television stations and the newspaper helped spread the word.
The location, a former Office Depot at 2455 NW Stewart Parkway, includes more than 10,000 square feet of retail space, ample parking and is paired with a Goodwill Employment and Training Center. That center offers a Job Connection computer lab where all job seekers 16 and older can use computers and get help writing resumes and preparing for interviews and referrals to employers or training. A Learning Lab underwritten by Regence Blue Cross and Blue Shield provides a variety of computer-based training.
When the sign at the new location went up back in March, the News-Review team had it covered, telling readers about the store and training center.
On April 20, while crews put the finishing touches on the new store and filled its racks and shelves, Julie Fletcher, Director of Marketing and Development, and Jill Fisher, Job Developer and Employment Specialist, visited the studios of KQEN News Radio 1240 to talk with Kyle Bailey and let listeners of Inside Douglas County know more about the new location.
On opening day, the Roseburg Chamber of Commerce joined Goodwill officials for a ribbon cutting, while eager shoppers lined up outside the store.
Ashley Honea of CBS affiliate KPIC 4 in Roseburg was on the scene at the grand opening and crafted a comprehensive story about the new location and Goodwill’s work in Roseburg.
