2016 Goodwill Story of the Year, Josephine County
“Goodwill helped me get all the steps I needed.” — BECKY
Goodwill connections led to a good job
Being out of the workforce for years left Becky Waldon feeling defeated, but when she came to Goodwill through an Oregon Department of Human Services program this single mom knew what she wanted: a job where she could grow and make her son proud.
She honed her office skills and rebuilt her confidence at the Goodwill Employment & Training Center in Grants Pass. At the suggestion of long-time Goodwill board member Ted Risser, Dave Moulton of Quality Electronics Service turned to Goodwill to find employees, and Becky was the first person the Goodwill team recommended. Now Quality Electronics has an excellent employee for its front office and Becky has a job that makes her feel valued and enables her to save money for her son’s college fund.
