Ashland Re-open Celebration

A remodeled Ashland Goodwill store is coming!

Improvements provide better shopper and donor experience at Goodwill on Tolman Creek Road

The timeline below is the anticipated schedule for construction activity and changes to store/donation hours:

Although much of the early construction was accomplished in phases to keep the store open, for the safety of customers and employees the store will close for the final interior improvements starting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 through Thanksgiving day. On Black Friday, the store resumes regular business hours and an entirely new layout — including placement of the checkout registers, the dressing rooms,  restrooms, and even the ceiling is higher. The remodel was necessary to improve the shopping and donating experience in a building that Goodwill moved into in 1991. The remodeling project that started in August reconfigures the retail space to enhance the organization and efficiency of the sales floor. The flooring is being stripped and refinished,  the ceiling was raised to allow for taller display racks for more product, lighting is more efficient,  and the production space was moved and reorganized to increase efficiency for employees to sort donations and price them for the floor.

Outside many safety and functional improvements were made. The donations door has moved to the back of the building with a new canopy overhead. The asphalt has been replaced and restriped for clearer directions for parking and traffic. The one-way traffic direction has been reversed to make for a safer flow for traffic and to avoid having the donations queue of cars back up onto Tolman Creek, as it had in the past. Customers will now enter at the north side of the building and exit where the donations door once was.

“It’s going to be more shopper-friendly and more open. It’s a layout that makes more sense and it’s better for loss prevention, plus there will be a better selection of items. The people in Ashland have been very supportive of us and they deserve the best place possible to shop and donate,” SO Goodwill Vice President of Retail and Operations, Dave Robison said.

A grand re-opening celebration will be held Nov. 29 – Dec. 2. Doors will open at 9 a.m. each day with the first 50 shoppers making a purchase receiving a free gift each of those days.
