Running Dead 5K coverage

Runners at starting line

Southern Oregon’s most apocalyptic fun run drew more than 300 people to Pear Blossom Park at The Commons in downtown Medford.

Southern Oregon Goodwill’s Running Dead 5K had 284 registered runners. Another 37 runners ages 4-8 signed up for the AllCare Health Kids Survivor Sprint. Participants could get free zombie makeup done by expert stylists from Ro Sham Bo Salon. Local haunted houses had displays, and booths offered information on how to prepare for actual emergencies. Common Block Brewing Company hosted the post-race Apocalypse Party, providing a sneak peek at the work in progress there, while food trucks kept humans and zombies alike well fed.

The Mail Tribune covered the event with a story and video by reporter Nick Morgan and Jamie Lusch’s photo gallery focusing on the Kids Survivor Sprint.

Goodwill’s official event photographer Hayley Taylor also captured lots of great photos. Find a selection of them, plus others on Southern Oregon Goodwill’s Facebook page or on the official Running Dead 5K Facebook page.

KDRV Newswatch 12 also covered the run and the post-race Apocalypse Party at Common Block Brewing Co.
