Organizational Retail Promotions

New C.O.O., VP of Retail & Operations, and Director of Retail

Former VP of Retail & Operations, Dave Robison, accepted the position as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer. He will supervise Retail/Operations, Facilities, Risk Management/Loss Prevention, and IT.

Robison joined Southern Oregon Goodwill in September 2017 bringing eight years of experience with Goodwill, previously working in Kennewick, WA, 20 years of management, leadership and grant writing experience in the nonprofit, education, and healthcare fields. He has been instrumental in our retail/ops growth. He is a newly minted MBA from Western Governors University and a finalist for the GII Executive Development Program.

“I’ve loved spending the last couple of years focused on our Retail operations and I’m really looking forward to helping drive the vision and goals of our Facilities, Risk Management, and IT departments.  We’re constantly looking to improve processes in all areas of our organization and we have a lot of good people working really hard to make that a reality,” Robison said. “I’m grateful for this opportunity and for everything Goodwill has done for me and my family over the years,” he added.


Michael Murphy becomes the new Vice President of Retail & Operations after approximately two years as the Director of Retail, working under Robison. His previous experience includes 22 years of working for G.I. Joe’s, working his way from a sporting goods clerk all the way up to Area Manager handling five stores in Southern Oregon until the chain closed in the spring of 2009.

“I’m extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to help lead Retail and Operations at Southern Oregon Goodwill,” Murphy said. He added, “I’m very proud of what we have accomplished over the last couple of years. I am passionate about caring for staff and providing excellent customer service! We have an incredible team of people who work very hard to ensure that the donations from our generous communities can best help fund our Mission of enabling employment”



Jayne Shafer takes over as Director of Retail for the newly-promoted Michael Murphy. She leaves her Store Manager position in Grants Pass, which she held since April 2018. She came to Goodwill from Walmart, where she worked for 15 years starting as a part-time photo center associate and worked up to a co-manager. She took part in the opening of all three Wal-Mart stores in the Rogue Valley.

Jayne is excited to take on the new role and put the skills of being a good teacher and trainer to further use.

“I feel blessed to have been able to step into the Grants Pass Retail store as a Store Manager almost two years ago,” Shafer said.  I couldn’t have asked for a better team to guide me as I learned the ins and outs of Donated Goods Retail. Most of my success in the Grants Pass store comes from not only the associates who work here but also my Store Manager peers. There is a lot of knowledge and wisdom in the Store Manager Team who are always willing to share,“ she added.
