KDRV NewsWatch 12 aired a story from 6 p.m. newscast on Thursday, July 28th about a new Goodwill Job Connection to open in the White City store.
Medford, OR — Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries will open its new Goodwill Job Connection center on Thursday, July 28, at 8080 Highway 62 in White City. The Goodwill Job Connection will provide free resources for job seekers under the same roof where people donate and shop to support Goodwill’s mission of enabling employment by providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The Goodwill Job Connection is a community resource center connecting job seekers with local employers. The computer-based center is staffed by Goodwill workforce development specialists who offer individualized help with the job search and application process. Job seekers can set up email accounts, polish their interview skills, and get assistance preparing and printing resumes and cover letters. Local and regional job leads are provided, and the Goodwill Job Connection will host periodic Career Fairs and opportunities to meet local hiring managers. Goodwill staff also offers referrals to services provided by other public agencies or social services to assist people who are out of work.
Co-locating the Goodwill Job Connection in the White City store gives residents of northern Jackson County a convenient, one-stop location to donate, shop, recycle, and search for jobs. “This will be our third Job Connection in Jackson County,” said Greg Lemhouse, Southern Oregon Goodwill Vice President of Workforce Development. “From this new location, we can serve north county job seekers and help connect them with employers in White City, Eagle Point and the rest of the Upper Rogue region.”
The other two Jackson County Job Connection locations are 11 W. Jackson St., Medford, and 310 Oak St. in Ashland. Goodwill also operates Job Connection centers in Grants Pass, Roseburg, Sutherlin, and Klamath Falls.
The Goodwill Job Connection in White City will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information about Goodwill Job Connections, see www.sogoodwill.org/programs/employment-training/job-connection.
A ribbon cutting with the Medford/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28. The community is invited to an open house from 10:30 a.m. to noon for a chance to learn more about Job Connection services.
Goodwill shoppers also will find something new at the White City Goodwill store. A summer remodeling project added 2,000 square feet of retail space and updated store signage.
