We held our first Community E-Cycle Drive on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Jackson County Expo in Central Point, marking an exciting milestone in our commitment to environmental sustainability.
The event provided a free and convenient way to responsibly recycle used electronics, and also to learn more about our e-waste services and partnership with Dell Reconnect.
Partnering with Dell Reconnect
This was our first big event with Dell Reconnect — a nationwide program that makes electronics recycling accessible and free for communities across the country. Dell is able to recover materials from used electronics to make new technology through their open-loop process.
The event was also made possible through collaboration with the Central Point Chamber of Commerce and the Jackson County Expo.
“We always love partnering with Goodwill. It’s their first event like this in the valley, and we’re honored that they chose Central Point to host it.”
– Stephanie Hendrickson, Central Point Chamber

Why E-Recycling Matters
E-waste is the fastest-growing type of waste in the United States, making responsible electronics recycling more critical than ever. Through Dell Reconnect, we are able to accept computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, cell phones, toner, cords and cables, modems, routers, and other IT-related equipment — any brand, in any condition.
“Every device recycled is a positive step toward a healthier environment. Through the Dell Reconnect partnership with Goodwill, we can make electronics recycling free, convenient, and accessible for people in our communities.”
– Rebecca McNamee, Southern Oregon Goodwill

The Local and National Impact
Since joining the Dell Reconnect partnership a year ago, Southern Oregon Goodwill has already recycled over 70,000 pounds of electronics — making a tangible difference right here in our region. Nationwide, the Dell and Goodwill partnership has diverted more than 650 million pounds of e-waste from landfills since 2004.
The partnership goes beyond environmental stewardship, too. We receive compensation for collecting e-waste and coordinating logistics for materials picked up by Dell Reconnect. These funds directly support our mission to enable employment and build brighter futures through skills training and job placement services in the communities we serve.

Recycle Electronics Year-Round
If you missed the E-Cycle Drive, no problem! All 11 Southern Oregon and Northern California Goodwill donation locations accept electronics every day, making it easy to recycle responsibly year-round. In the future, we hope to host two community E-Cycle Drives each year as well, so watch for future announcements.
